Who goes to The Court?

  • Everyone! The Court is a gay and lesbian venue however we welcome all types through our doors. Gay, lesbian, straight, transgender, whatever. You are welcome regardless of how you identify (and we won’t ask anyway).

What identification do I need?

  • The current acceptable forms of identification as per the Liquor Control Act are:
    • A current Australian driver’s licence with photograph;
    • A current passport; A current Australian learner’s driver permit with photograph;
    • WA Proof of Age Card; Proof of Age card or equivalent issued in an Australian state or territory;
    • A current WA Photo Card;
    • A current NSW Photo Card;
    • A Photo Card issued by any Australian state or Territory similar to the NSW/WA Photo Card.
  • You will need to show one of these forms of identification if asked.

Is there a door charge?

  • Fridays & Saturdays after 10pm we charge $5 entry, all other times (except some events) entry is free. There is however a small eftpos surcharge for the small transaction.

Hen/Bucks Parties

  • YAY we can now all get married!!!! Come and celebrate with us!
  • There will be no VIP entry for Hen or Buck’s Parties but we are happy to host a private function for groups interested in booking in advance. Please contact us at brienne@thecourt.com.au

Why do you scan ID at the door? What happens with the information?

  • We scan ID at the door to ensure your safety in the venue. ID scanners have been proven to improve safety at licensed premises. Your details are encrypted and protected by passwords. Only senior management have access to the system. Your details are not used to market to you or for any other purpose other than to ensure your (and other people’s) safety.

But I don’t look underage, do I still need ID?

  • Yes, regardless of age on a Wednesday, Friday or Saturday night when our scanner is in place you will be asked for identification. You may also be asked for identification at other times other than Wednesday, Friday or Saturday nights.

I’m coming in a big group, can I leave our names at the door?

  • Unfortunately we do not put names at the door. If you are concerned about lining up (our queue usually moves very quickly) we suggest coming to the venue earlier. If you are in a large group please ensure that you all have correct footwear (no rubber thongs) and no-one in your party is intoxicated as it is against the law for our door staff to allow entry to an intoxicated person.

But our intoxicated friend won’t drink, we’ll look after her, she’s my best friend!

  • See above

I’m a trans*, which bathrooms should I use?

  • Please use the bathroom you feel most suits your personal identity. If you are removed and you feel it has been done in error please ask to see our head crowd controller or the manager on duty and calmly explain that you are transitioning or are identifying in that direction.

As I’m transitioning, my ID doesn’t match my dress/appearance. Is that ok?

  • Yes, our crowd controllers and managers are very used to dealing with this situation. Don’t feel embarrassed, we’ve seen it all before.

Can I bring my kids?

  • Yes children are allowed in the venue as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian acting in the role of a parent. After 8pm our policy is that we ask all children to leave the venue. Please be aware that your children must be supervised and not leave your sight at all times.

Some guy is harassing me and my friends, what do we do?

  • Immediately tell a manager (there is always at least one on duty, usually two on the weekends and sometimes we’re all here stepping on each other’s toes) or a crowd controller and we will assess the situation. We do not tolerate harassment of any kind in our venue. If you can’t see a crowd controller come to the front door as they are always there.

Does The Court support the community?

  • Yes, we have even won two awards from the Australian Hotels Association for doing so! Currently we support the WA Aids Council (you can grab free condoms at the venue), Gay and Lesbian Community Services, Breast Cancer Care WA, Bears WA plus countless community groups and charities.

I have a question that is not answered here?

Where can I find the photos from Saturday night/an event?

  • It depends on who took your photo. You might end up in Out In Perth, Xpress or on our Facebook page.

I had a photo taken but don’t want it shown anywhere, what can I do?

  • Probably don’t pose for the photo next time………in the meantime check all the places above and if you see your smiling face in a photo you now don’t want out there please let either us or the appropriate place know.
